Creating a Sustainable Environment
- Prima Chemicals focuses on preserving the environment both internally and externally by implementing innovative and sustainable concepts.
Preserving Environment
- At Prima Chemicals, we prioritize environmental preservation by implementing the best environmental practices and monitoring operations throughout the organization. We also strive to raise awareness among our employees to promote environmental values and ensure a safe working environment.
Affiliations
Prima Chemicals carefully selects partners and only applies for memberships in the best facilities. Our affiliations include:
- EICL (Enviro Infrastructure Co. Ltd., Umraya, Vadodara) for the approved tanker disposal of treated wastewater.
- NECL (Nandesari Enviro Control Ltd, Nandesari, Vadodara) for the approved vehicle disposal of hazardous waste for TSDF or incineration.
- GSPL (Geohybrid Industrial Solutions, Palsana, Surat) for the approved vehicle disposal of hazardous waste for common incineration.
- RSPL (Recycling Solutions Private Limited, Panoli, Bharuch) for the approved vehicle disposal of hazardous waste for common incineration.
Water Management (Rain Water Harvesting)
- Prima Chemicals sources its domestic and industrial water needs from bore-wells and ensures their recharge through rainwater harvesting. The bore wells have a capacity of 4000 liters per hour.
Waste Water Management
- The manufacturing process generates wastewater, which is sent to the primary effluent treatment plant. It is then segregated into high and low COD and TDS streams for further treatment.
Multi Effect Evaporator (MEE)
- Prima Chemicals treats high COD and TDS effluent in its Multi Effect Evaporator (MEE), which has a capacity of 1000L per hour, under steam and vacuum pressure. The condensate collected is recycled, and the residue is incinerated. Low COD and TDS effluent is treated in Soil Bio Technology (SBT).
Soil Bio Technology (SBT)
- With a capacity of 100KL per day, low COD and TDS effluent is neutralized in the primary plant and then filtered by a filter press. It is then transferred to SBT. Ozone gas (generated in-house) is then passed through the effluent. The ozonized effluent is then transferred to a specially designed bio-reactor that has filters and is seeded with genetically engineered microbes. The microbes further oxidize the organic material present in the effluent. The effluent is passed through four such bio-reactors, one after the other, to ensure maximum oxidation. Finally, the treated effluent is collected and, after testing, disposed of to EICL (CETP), Umraya, for further treatment.
Hazardous Waste Management
- Prima Chemicals stores hazardous waste generated from the Primary Plant, Incinerator Plant, Distillation residue, empty barrels, and used bags in a specified area and sends them only to authorized authorities.
Air Pollution Control Management
- Prima Chemicals manages air pollution from its boiler stack, stack attached to incinerator and pulverizer room. The boiler stack is attached with a cyclone separator with bag filter and scrubber system, the incinerator stack is attached with a scrubber system (alkaline liquid is circulated in the system) to absorb the gases evolved, and the pulverizer room is equipped with a dust collection system having around 20 suction points to ensure a dust-free environment for its workers.
Solvent Recovery Management
- The mixture separated from the product during filtration/centrifuge process is collected at a separate storage facility and is then distilled to recover different solvents at different temperatures and conditions. The same is reused in production. The residue generated is collected and stored separately.
Fire & Safety
- Prima Chemicals has installed a robust fire-fighting system to ensure overall safety. Trained firefighters are employed and stationed round the clock. The entire unit is covered with hydrant line, hose rills, hose nozzles, Auto operating diesel pump sets, alarm system, water storage capacity 100 KL, siren system. Equipment such as DCP (5/10 kg), CO2 cylinders (4.5 kg), Foam carboys, safety showers, fire buckets, BA sets, Air line masks etc. are also present. The employees in the unit are provided with all types of safety equipment. They are also trained regularly on how to use fire-fighting equipment and handle chemicals properly.
Environmental Audit
- Prima Chemicals conducts environmental audits every quarter to ensure that it consistently follows the best environmental practices.
Green Belt
- Prima Chemicals maintains a green belt by planting trees to enhance and maximize better environmental conditions. Its lush green factory campus has more than 1000 trees.
